Foraging Forsythia
This Easter, many of us don’t have access to things that we would like to have during this global pause. This season reminds me of when I made the decision to pause my career and raise my daughters. There was something in having less that provided an opportunity to ‘use what I had.’ In little and much, I’ve tried to make a beautiful and joyful home for my little family. So, this weekend, I went out to forage around our beautiful historic property to see what I had to decorate our Easter dinner table. My daughters did a wonderful job arranging and photographing the forsythia, violas and daffodils I threw together. While I am so happy to have them under our roof again after they have been quarantined for many days, they just learned that they have been furloughed from their jobs. Sometimes, having less is not a choice.
Many of you sweet brides and grooms are faced with similar challenges during this global pause. Whether you are choosing to proceed with your original date and have a virtual wedding, or postponing your in-person wedding and reception of more than 10 guests for a later date, you may find you need to ‘use what you have.’
There is beauty in simplicity. I am a firm believer in beauty for ashes. We are sorry that your wedding plans are being changed, but here’s hoping for better days. We will be here for you if you need us; until then, use what you have. You may have more than you realize.
